Way to go PN racers, 46 PN members (30% of the racers) made the trip to AB to race in Round 2 of the CXCC Series. Kudos to Dustin Labby who had a close encounter with a moose and still raced!

Posters for the Night Pig (May 17th) and Squealin' Pig (May 18th) in Vernon are up on the posters page.

Outback Bushwacked

The Outback Bushwack Hare Scrambles has been cancelled for this year. Normally slated for May 31st in Quesnel, we hope this event returns for 2015. I would like to say thanks to the Quesnel Cross Country Motorcycle Association for all their hard work.

I would just like to say that if you come across a trail work crew while out riding, please be considerate and help even for a few minutes. It would be greatly appreciated.

February PN Meeting

[Updated update] The February PN Meeting is being moved from The Baron's in Port Kells to the Old Spaghetti Factory in Langley (91A Ave & 200th St. Near the theatre. Just look for the UFO, the restaurant is northwest of it.)

Also the meeting is still on Tuesday the 18th.

I'll post up if this is to be a permanent change.

Please note that Jarrett has stepped down as Webmaster and I've returned with Darin Marr's excellent help. So please bear with us as we try to work with this site to keep it up to date. Also please feel free to contribute either here or on Facebook. We would all appreciate it.

The BCORCS starts this weekend!!

We are quickly approaching the 2013 British Columbia Off road Championship Series! This weekend is the first two rounds for 2013.

It has been a long offseason. Last BCORCS  race being held on  October 7th of last year. Almostt 6 months without a race. Everyone must be itching to race!!

The first races are located on Vancouver Island. This will be the first year that there will be a double header weekend on the island. The first race of the year is the Katoom Hare Scramble. The Katoom is located just outside of Campbell River(north island) at the Campbell RIver Motocross track. There has been 3 events held at this venue apart of the VIHSS (Vancouver island Hare Scramble Series) the past 2 years, but is a new event for the BCORCS.  The course is mostly single track (14 km approximately) and the full use of the motocross track(which is a super fun track), and a recently built endurocross section.  The course is all ready to be raced on, conditions will be ideal for racing right now and traction is at best.

Directions to get to round 1:  from the ferry (nanaimo) - follow signs from ferry terminal north to Campbell River. Once on the island highway continue north for approximately 1 hour 30 minutes until you reach Campbell RIver. The highway will head into the outskirt of the town. You will then follow the signs directing you to Gold River ( should be the 2nd set of lights, you will turn left towards Gold River). Once you have turned left you continue on this road for 7 km. The motocross track entrance and sign will be on your left hand side at the  7km mark.

There is great camping at the track if you are bringing a trailer, camper etc. There is a Provincial Campground  that  you would have passed on the same road. Here is a link for information on hotel accomodations that is close to the race: Heritage River Inn

Round 2- back to The Roots of Doom!  The WCRA will be hosting the 2nd round of the series and the double header. This is the 4th annual for the Roots of Doom and has seemed to become a favorite for some racers. This is also the 10th event that has been at Whiskey Creek. The riding area has become  one of the main locations for events on Vancouver island. This years course has quite a different look to it as some of the more whooped out trails have been dropped and some tighter trail with even more cornering has  been built and added for this year. From last years event there is close to 4 km of new different trail. The total length of the course is 21.5 km All single track!!

Note: there will be kids races at both events. The kids race will start at 10 a.m. sharp on both days and will both have courses that are right beside the staging areas for people to watch and parents to monitor their kids. The organizers of the Roots hope to have an Easter egg hunt in place for the kids as well! You can camp at the staging area if camping or you can find a hotel/resort to stay at other in Qualicum or Parksville which is 10-15minutes away from the race site.

You can find some more additional information on the Vancouver Island Double Header here: V.I. Doubler Header

Both events are $40 to enter and you will need to buy a 2013 PNWMA Licence ($30- individual, $40 -family). Also, if you don't have one already  you will need to buy a transponder which is good for any PNWMA race. These are only $5.

Please don't forget Sparks Arrestors are MANDATORY for any races in B.C. now. Make sure you have one!

attached is a poster for the events as well as directions to the 2nd round, the Roots of Doom. Also the sign up sheet for Roots of Doom. A sign up sheet for the Katoom will be posted soon so you can keep your hands in your pockets at sign up.

I hope everyone is excited to race, ready to race, and most of all just can't WAIT to race! See you all soon!
