All the news that is printed to fit... :-) Last Updated onMarch 26th, 2008 Big Clean-up Here's our chance to clean up McNutt and our image. I'm posting this on behalf of the BMMC. --- Attention all BMMC members. Are you tired of reading newspaper articles written by anti-dirt bike groups? Do you want to sway public perception on the subject? What about a front page news paper article showing dirt bikers passion for the environment we ride in. Well here's your chance! On SUNDAY MARCH 30/08 the BMMC has organized a clean up day. Maple Leaf Disposal will be donating a garbage truck and dumping fees, in support Unicorn Trucking and Towing has arranged to open the gate on 256th, and the Maple Ridge Times has agreed to provide coverage of this event. We need as many members as we can get for this event, the more people that show up, the less work for all, and the BIGGER the coverage ! Help us go for the front page, show the public how you really feel about the environment, and get your picture in the paper ! Time and Date, March 30/08 9 AM at the gate, or 8AM at the Log Cabin Grill for breakfast. Location, meeting at the gate at the end of 256th. The area to clean up, is the open area to the left of the main gravel road, 10 min walk from the gate, or sixty seconds by bike. Bring, whatever you can, shovels, rakes, garbage bags, work gloves. What are we cleaning up? Illegally dumped household, and construction debris, tires, bedframes, all creating run off into the small fish bearing lake to the south. See you next Sunday ! Dan deMunck New Addition... The Okanagan Dirt Riders (ODR) appears to be dead. Despite the frustration they have caused, I lament their passing. I do admire their PR work, and appreciate the work anyone does to promote the sport. However like a phoenix, the Okanagan Hare Scrambles Series (OHSS) has risen fron the ashes. They are an independent series from the Off-Road Series. They have made the effort to prevent date conflicts. You will need a PNWMA license to race their events. They do have their own class divisions and scoring. They will have they're own website up and running soon, but I will post any information they send my way on this site as well. I welcome them to the PNWMA, and hope you will as well. May 25 - The Rock Hound - Silver Creek Snow Warning... For those of you eagerly waiting the first canadian race of the year (The Bent Spoke) you'll have to be on the edge of your chair for a little while longer. The nice dumping of snow raises the possibility of the course marking teams not having enough time to layout and repair the course. So far, as of now the Bent Spoke is still on. Anyone wanting to lend a hand, please call Jane Yaschuk at 604-540-7484. We would appreciate if you could walk the course with a propane torch... And I'm on the edge of my seat as well, since Team Grizzly (me) is returning to racing with a nice new RM-250. Lost Trophies for 2007... We had a good attendance at the Awards Night in Kamloops. Now we know we coincided with the Bike Show and the Arenacross, be we also coincided with the Kamloops Ice Racing Doubleheader and the BCORMA AGM. So it was a draw. For those of you who could not make it, we still have your trophies. Jane Yaschuk, our heroic Director at Large has them, you can call her at 604-540-7484. Also she will be at the Bent Spoke and Spring Poker Run if you would like to pick them up there. Warren Joiner Junior Under Number Plate Colors...
These number colors are not mandatory. The PNWMA recommends that riders use these colors to help identify riders at the checks, and for spectator identification. The numbers used should be the last three numbers of your transponder ID, which will correspond to your 2008 PNWMA race license number. Or if you are proud of your placing, you can use your placing in last year's series to be your number for this year. That number is transferable between classes. Also do keep in mind that your bikes look faster with numbers on them as well. I will try to have a list of the transponder numbers for those riders with one already. Also rider's with licenses from ice racing can exchange them for current ones at any race. I've also contacted a couple of local graphics companies and provided them with PNWMA logos, so this way you can add these logos to your graphics kit. Make Some Quiet... The PNWMA would like to remind everyone that the sound testing results will be enforced for the 2008 season. For all the testing that was done for 2007 a good majority of riders complied with the 96dB sound level. Bikes testing above 96dB will not be allowed to race. However exceptions can be made for motorcycles where the owner has made a resonable attempt to reduce noise emissions. Please contact Ted Blow at 604-597-7230 if you have any questions or concerns with sound testing and making sure that your bike passes. Thank you all for your co-operation. Riders Bumped... Ryan Graffunder from Expert to Masters
Congratulations on doing well in your classes and good luck in your new class. Awards Night Information... The Awards Night will be held in Kamloops at the Comfort Inn. The address is 1810 Rodgers Place, Kamloops. There is a special rate for the hotel rooms. You can call 1-888-556-3111 to make a reservation, and please quote PNWMA Awards Event. The cost $10 for an individual and $20 for a family. Andrew Florence has posted more details on the Forum. If you would like more information, please call David Lock (604-823-4501) or Ken McLelland There are also a few rule tweakages... 1.) Senior Expert has been changed to a 3 hour A course class. 2.) The PNWMA would like to issue a strong recommendation that young riders (around 10-12 years of age) be accompanied by their parents on the race course. Riders younger than 10 years of age should ride the Sportsman loop. Many sweep riders have complained about having to spend too much effort behind young riders on inadequate machines, which prevents them from sweeping the course to monitor for real emergencies. PN Pushes North... Racers in Dawson Creek and Fort St. John have asked the PN to allow them to put on races for the PN series. The PN executive is contemplating the idea with the inclusion of a sled dog class. (Of course the issue of where to put the over and under split for sled dogs is a bit of a riddle at the moment.) We have not heard from any Yukon clubs yet, but we feel that it's just a matter of time... (But I can say first hand that the riding in the Yukon is awesome.) New Fancy Website After receiving as much flak as a US solder patrolling the streets of Baghdad in a pink tutu, I've decided to revamp the site. The layout and contents are still the same, but it has been graphically enhanced (say ooooooooohhhhh! and aaaaaaaahhhh!) Please feel free to bother me with ideas and head-ups about bugs and gliches. I also would be interested in posting anything that you may have. You can post your photos in the photo gallery, and feel free to post ride and race reports in the forums. I could also add in a formal snazzy ride & race reports page on the main site. I will also be changing the forum software in January. Update: I had to change to forum software this evening since the old one crashed. The downside to all this is that you'll have to re-register. Sorry but there is no way to convert from the old software (WowBB) to the new one (Simple Machines) Also there might be some tweaks ahead while I try to get the froum and photo gallery synchronized. But don't let these little issues deter you from posting. The forum is open to all. You can post anything about motorcycling. Want to do a little race report, looking for riding buddies, got a cool riding area to share, want to sell some personal gear, looking for some lost stuff, or just have a plain old rant and rave about riding? Well then please feel free to post. Disclaimer: There is a grain to truth to this, I'm just being sarcastic when I write it. I didn't want it to be a dull read.
